The next morning in Room 225, I looked over my assignment sheet with some surprise: 9:30am: Cryptozoology, Room 113 10:35: Astral Sorcery, Room 303 11:30: Library Duty 12:30 LUNCH 1:20 pm: Sports and Exercise (Damn!) 2:15: Yokai Identification, Room 101 3:30: Home Room, Dismissal "Now this school is showing its true colors," I muttered, rising from my desk as the bell rang at 9:20 sharp--Zuki-yo took hold of my arm and led me to the stairs. "You really impressed Mocatta, yesterday," she informed me, with the hint of a smile. "I ought to apologize, I may have overreacted," I replied, but her lovely face was grave; "I warned her that you were a wizard--do not apologize! You have earned a place on the Tribunal." We parted ways as I headed to 113, where I was surprised to see my copper-curled frenemy, Cressida Carfax, presiding over Cryptozoology class! I soon learned that Cressida has a passion for monsters; she regaled us with descriptions of her favorite deadly creatures

{This story is a journal of sorts, kept by the wizard Ffej when he was a teenager attending a strange boarding school with a dark mystery} I have been here at the Academy named for Saint Excrucia for a week now, and to put it mildly, this place is WEIRD!!! The Academy itself is about four hundred years old--hardly ancient compared to the Tower of my Lady Xyanthia, but this place feels its age, and the very walls are encrusted with eldritch evil. Ghosts are legion in this place, but one feels their presence only at night. Usually. My first impression on arriving was, of course, the overwhelming number of girls; Excrucia Academy only became co-ed three or four years ago; the upper classes are all girls, and they form a strict ruling caste--my fellow male students, outnumbered five to one by the girls, are helpless pawns in their hands.
