Lightbox - Out with the Old, In with the New

After twenty years I decided to swap my old lightbox (selfbuild!) for a brand new one.
And I wanted to make a comparison between the two.

Old Lightbox - 50 x 70 cm (20” x 28”)

1) The protectionboard has to prevent the plexiglass to get damaged
2) The plexiglass was the replacement for the frosted glass I had earlier, but as the nature of glass is: IT BROKE! Much to my frustration...
3) The tubelight I installed myself. On the bottom I used reflecting foil for better light
4) I used opaque foil on the clear plexiglass.
5) A secondhand lightswitch
6) And it worked (Costs were about 80 guilders, 1/8 of the price of a commercial model)

Drumrolll--- tata!

The NEW Lightbox (or lightpad) – 43 x 61 cm (17” x 24”)

7) Always so nice to open your own present
8) The Lightpad has its own cover
9) Slightly smaller then my old lightbox, ...
10) ...but also slimmer, less bulkier
11) LED light, switch on the side
12) The light is more uniform in comparison with my old one.
